Regional Transportation Feasibility and
Design Study West Chester Borough, Chester County, Pennsylvania
This study, completed for the West Chester Regional Planning Commission in conjunction with the Brandywine Conservancy, addressed a wide range of transportation planning issues in two distinct areas: the southern study area generally south/southwest of West Chester Borough, and the northern study area consisting of the U.S. Route 202/U.S. Route 322 corridors and interchange north of West Chester. Within the southern area, the study focused on the evaluation of localized transportation improvements with the objective to improve traffic circulation on the secondary road system. Within the northern area, the study focused on the interchange of U.S. Route 202 and U.S. Route 322 Bypass for evaluation of the feasibility of expanding the interchange to provide additional ramps for access to/from the west and north. These efforts considered and evaluated the region’s natural, cultural, and land use attributes relative to the study’s identified transportation circulation improvement alternatives. Transportation and land use planning, traffic engineering, including traffic operations analyses and preparation of conceptual improvement plans, and extensive community relations and public involvement were important aspects in the completion of this study.

Westfield Infrastructure Improvements
Westfield, Hampden County, Massachusetts
McMahon provided assistance to the City of Westfield during the permitting and design of infrastructure improvements for a major retail center. McMahon led the design and permitting team to recommend an access plan, which consisted of design for almost one mile of a new, proposed road, a bridge over the Massachusetts Turnpike (MassPike), access onto the MassPike, and a stream crossing. Early identification of the opportunities and constraints, while remaining sensitive to the potential for cut-through traffic, were vital in developing proper access plans. Our work involved determining projected traffic volumes from the proposed land use and establishing the approach and departure routes for all vehicles trips. |

Lauderhill Center City DRI, Westera DRI
Lauderhill, Broward County, Florida
Lauderhill Mall, the first mall in Broward County, Florida, is proposed for redevelopment. The 670,000-square-foot retail development will be augmented with 2,500 multi-story dwelling units and 350,000 square feet of offices. The entire project is designed as a “Transit Oriented Development” and, as such, all traffic analyses were completed with a significant transit component in mind. Based on the completed analyses, this will be the preeminent project of its kind in both the City of Lauderhill and Broward County while resulting in minimal external traffic impacts on local roadways. |
