Henry Woods Bridge Replacement

Bushkill Township, Northampton County, Pennsylvania

McMahon prepared design documents for the replacement of Henry Woods Bridge crossing Bushkill Creek in PennDOT District 5-0. This existing pony truss, surrounded by state park lands and the Jacobsburg Historical District, was damaged during flooding. The project involved Section 4(f), 6(f) and project “70” funds and was essential that a “No Adverse Effect” finding was issued. McMahon worked with PennDOT, FHWA, DCNR, and the Historical Society to minimize required right-of-way and utilized aesthetic bridge treatments to aid in the No Adverse Effect finding. Utilizing TEA-LU’s de minimus criteria, we receive environmental clearance in a short 18 months.

Upper Shawme Dam Design

Sandwich, Barnstable County, Massachusetts

McMahon completed final design, environmental and all permitting, and construction management services for rehabilitation of the Upper Shawme Dam. After a Phase 1 Dam Inspection, extensive subsurface, hydrologic and structural analyses were conducted and used to design the dam embankment, spillway, and hydraulics for the dam rehab. A detailed Emergency Action Plan and Operation and Maintenance Manual were written. Numerous applications, permits, and certifications/ licenses were successfully completed and/or obtained during the environmental permitting process, involving multiple state and federal agencies.

Park South Residential Community Bridge Inspection

Lauderhill, Broward County, Florida

McMahon performed a bridge inspection of a three-span pre-cast double-tee beam pedestrian bridge. Field inspection was accomplished by a two-man team which included inspection of the super structure, substructure and soundings throughout the canal adjacent to the structure. The field inspection was performed in accordance with the National Bridge Inspection Standards. The report summarized the conditions of the components including the railing, approach slab, deck, superstructure and substructure, as well as scour conditions from the sounding results. The report provided recommendations for needed improvements, on a priority basis, and associated costs.
