Traffic Data Count Services

Luzerne, Wyoming, Lackawanna, Pike, Wayne, and Susquehanna Counties, Pennsylvania

McMahon was retained by PennDOT District 4-0 to provide traffic data collection services throughout the six counties in the District. These data collection services included automatic traffic recorder counts to record volume and classification at 260 locations throughout the area. These counts were conducted over a five month time frame and provided to PennDOT as part of their annual traffic counting program.

New England Region

Commuter Railroad Passenger Counts

Boston, Suffolk County, Massachusetts

McMahon was retained to conduct boarding and alighting passenger counts for peak period trains at commuter rail stations serving Boston and surrounding communities. McMahon trained, coordinated and supervised all data collection staff. Multiple data sets were collected for each train over a two-week period to calculate total passenger loads. McMahon prepared a report summarizing and comparing actual ridership to seating capacity resulting in recommendations for improved equipment utilization.

Florida Region

Data Collection Open-End Contract

Broward, Indian River, Martin, Palm Beach, St. Lucie, Miami-Dade, and Monroe Counties, Florida

As a subconsultant, McMahon provided professional and technical services to the Department’s Transportation Statistics Unit. The activities performed were related to data collection and data reporting for the Traffic Characteristics Inventory (TCI), Roadway Characteristics Inventory (RCI) and Highway Performance Monitoring System (HPMS). The project included manual and automatic vehicle volume and classification counts, speed data, travel time and delay studies, saturation flow, gap size studies, and crash analyses. Additionally, the project required the preparation of traffic signal warrant summaries, intersection and corridor capacity analyses, operational level of service analyses and traffic volume forecasting. Data collection, analysis results, findings and recommendations were documented in technical traffic reports.
